Getting a New Dog
Getting a new dog is one of the most exciting things you can do. Dogs love to play with their owners and show them love. Rest assured that you will receive plenty of attention from your new dog and you will have tons of fun together. Dog owners normally bond with their new pet and love having them around. While dogs typically live only about seven (human) years, they make those seven years really worth it.
Shelter
If you are going to keep your dog outside in your yard, then you need to consider their shelter. When it rains, your new dog will need a place to stay covered. In case of a frightening lightning storm or snow, you may even have to bring your dog into the home for their safety.
Some dog owners like to keep their dog in their house, and this is fine as well. What you need to be sure of if you go this route is that there is plenty of room in your home for the dog. A small home and a large dog don't usually go together well and will leave you bumping into each other. The dog may inadvertently end up knocking over things with their large body and wagging tail, so even if you have a large home, be sure to keep the china put up high just like you would for a toddler. Dogs can be just as thoughtless.
Other Pet Decisions
Once you have decided where your new dog is going to sleep, you have to make several other decisions. Are you going to scoop their poop or just leave it? Are you going to play fetch? If so, you'll need to buy a few tennis balls. Are you going to feed your new dog dry food or wet dog food? Stock up before the dog arrives.
Health care for dogs is very important as well. In fact, it's probably the most important aspect of having the dog. When your dog gets ill, it's best to know who to call right away.
