Great Dog Breeds for your Kids

Choosing a dog for your family can be a major choice for anyone to make. When children are in your home, it becomes more difficult to choose just the right dog for your kids. Before choosing, you should know what breeds will work well with your family as well as with the dog’s needs.

Beagles

A kid friendly dog breed is a Beagle, although this breed is smaller than a Golden Retriever. Beagles are said to be lazy dogs that enjoy just sitting next to your children. They can be active dogs, but most of the time, they are quite laid back. This breed of dog is great for children that aren’t old enough to play with larger dogs yet.

Golden Retrievers

One of the most well known breeds for children is a Golden Retriever. This breed is said to be one of the gentlest dogs that you could get for your children. They are low maintenance, and will be able to get along well with your children at any age.

Schnauzers

Another children appropriate breed of dog is a Schnauzer. Although these dogs come in many shapes and sizes, all of them are said to be really great with kids. Most of these dogs are fairly small and will have lots of energy for any child’s age.

Consider Your Choice Carefully

There are also many other breeds that could be recommended for children. If you are unsure that a dog will work well with your family, don’t make the commitment.
