Stop the Dog Barking

Dog barking is one of the most annoying things a dog owner will have to listen to. Dog barking is especially annoying at night when you are trying to sleep, but the fact is that your dog is trying to tell you – or someone or something else – something it wants them to know.

Reasons Dogs Bark

Intruders

Dogs will bark if another animal approaches their territory, especially at night. They are often unable to see the unable although they can hear it, and they want the "intruder" to know they are aware of its presence and they'll fight it if necessary. This barking can alert you to animals or human intruders. While annoying, nighttime barking can protect your home.

Restroom Breaks

Some times dogs bark at night because they need to use the restroom. This is common for indoor dogs but not so much for outdoor dogs. If your dog is living outside it will probably just handle its business in private. If your dog is inside, the last thing you want it to do is silently poop on the carpet.

However, if your dog frequently needs to use the restroom in the middle of the night, consider taking them outside just before you go to bed. This will allow them to relieve their bowels at the end of the night and they are likely to not need to use the restroom again until morning.

If you have trouble with your dog barking that you can seem to stop, bring your dog into our San Francisco vet clinic for professional help.
